Elise got her first taste of rowing on course for new rowers run by Eton College in 1992 and found it suited her well. She was encouraged by her parents, notably her mother who herself raced at the World Rowing Championships in the 1960s. On leaving school she moved up to London to study Music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and joined Thames Rowing Club. The Highlight of Elise’s rowing career is her outstanding performance at the Athens Olympics. Elise and her doubles partner Sarah Winkless had a perfectly timed season peaking successfully in Athens with a superbly executed final which won them a Bronze medal. Following the 2004 Olympics Elise began training at the beginning of 2005. Despite the long rest Elise had a successful season in 2005 with a 4th in the Women’s Double at the Eton World Cup and a bronze at the Lucerne World Cup. She finished the season at the World Championships in Gifu where she placed 5th and very hungry for a medal on her home turf at the 2006 World Championships in Eton. 2005 5th Women’s Double Scull – World Championships, Gifu |
